Since 2003, more than 180 students and scholars from 26 countries have traveled to Igalo, Montenegro to attend the European Union & Legal Reform Summer School, a weeklong post-graduate course organized by the CCSDD and the Faculty of Law of the University of Belgrade.

During the course, students attend an innovative series of lectures and roundtable discussions in order to deepen their understanding of the EU’s expansion eastward and all of the subsequent legal and constitutional implications. Balkan countries and former Soviet satellites represent key areas for future enlargement, but the regions’ recent histories of conflict have brought a number of issues to the fore. Past Summer Schools have tackled topics like minority rights protection, constitutional courts and constitutional justice, the implications of EU enlargement on democratic transitions and consolidation, reforms still needed by ‘consolidated democracies’, and lessons to be learned from the founding members of the European Economic Community (EEC).

This year's one-week Summer School will take place in Igalo (Herceg-Novi), Montenegro, from 12-17 July 2015, and is open to final-year undergraduate students and graduate students in Law and Political Science, as well as young professionals and scholars.

Please contact us at info@ccsdd.org with any inquiries. The application deadline 31 May 2015.
