STFC Nuclear Physics Summer School

The 19th STFC UK Nuclear Physics Summer School will take place in Queen's University Belfast between 21st August and 2nd September 2017. The school is intended for 1st and 2nd year PhD students in the UK and overseas. The School will provide training on theoretical, experimental and applied Nuclear Physics from world-leading experts, as well as tutorials, an opportunity to present your research and a careers and public engagement session.

We will hold a Career development session with some of the school lecturers, highlighting their different post-PhD experiences.

Getting to Queen's University Belfast 

The summer school is fully residential and will take place at Queen's University Belfast, which is 6 miles from Belfast City Airport.  This is the most convenient airport and it is easiest to get a taxi to the campus for ~£9.  For further information about flights to Belfast City airport, please see www.belfastcityairport.com (UK Routes include Birmingham, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Exeter, Cardiff, Glasgow, Leeds Bradford, Liverpool, London City, London Heathrow and Southampton.  European routes include Alicante, Amsterdam, Brussels, Faro, and Malaga)
 
It is also possible to fly into Belfast International airport and Dublin airport, which are further from the campus.  Belfast International is ~18 miles and a regular bus (£7) with journey time 30 mins can take you from the airport to the city centre.  However, with heavy luggage it would be advised to take a taxi from the city centre (£5), as the walk to Riddel Hall/Elms Village is ~30 mins. A taxi directly from Belfast International airport to the venue is ~£25.
