Shahbaz Sharif Merit PhD Scholarships to Study at 50 Best Universities of the World

The Govt. of the Punjab has launched "Shahbaz Sharif Merit Scholarship (SSMS)" under which eligible male and female students, as per the eligibility criteria set for this scheme from time to time, will be awarded scholarships for Ph.D level Education at the top ranked universities of the world.

Shahbaz Sharif Merit Scholarship (SSMS) is a revolutionary step of Govt. of the Punjab which will enable the youth to study at the top ranked educational institutions of the world and play their role in strengthening & uplifting the economy of Pakistan. The scholarship scheme focuses the meritorious students of Punjab while allocating a special quota for the students of other federating units of Pakistan as well.

Eligibility

Students fulfilling the following criterion shall be eligible to apply for SSMS

• Valid Ph.d admission offer from Top 50 (Subject wise) Universities of the World (QS ranking) in preferred subject areas
• Not less than 60% marks throughout the academic career.
• Declared monthly income of parents (from all sources) is equal to or less than Rs. 200,000/-
• Age limit (at the time of application) should not be more than 35 years
• Not availed any foreign scholarship in the past. 
• Must take up the scholarship in the year for which it is offered and the scholarship shall not be deferred to the next year.
• All Pakistani Nationals, both males and females are eligible to apply.

Scholarship Coverage

PhD Scholarships awarded under SSMS are fully funded and will cover the following costs:

• Tuition fees of the Degree Course
• Boarding & Lodging (as per approved rates)
• Air Fare

Descipline wise allocation of scholarships

Allocation of the scholarships will be as follows:

• 80 % scholarships are reserved for science disciplines
• 20% of scholarships are reserved for Social Sciences/Humanities & Arts.

Instruction For Filling Out the Scholarship Form

• Read every field carefully, it is advised to photocopy the form and fill it before filling the original application form to make sure all information is correct and final.
• Ensure that you have attached all required documents by completing the checklist.
• Answer all questions. Those not applicable should be marked “N/A”.
• For family financial reporting, parents/guardians should be consulted.
• Fields marked with a tick mark (√) should only be answered in the same.
• Do not provide false or incomplete information.
• Use extra sheet (if required).

Required documents

1. Attested copy of CNIC.
2. Attested copies of all educational testimonials.
3. CV/Resume.
4. Copy of valid admission offer for PhD for fall 2016 intake.
5. Copy of Synopsis/ Research Proposal.
6. Income affidavit on legal paper (sample attached with application form).
7. Copy of last paid utility bills (electricity, gas, phone).
8. Attested copy of domicile.
9. Copy of previous months pay slips (if applicable).
10. Three passport size photographs (blue back ground).
11. Any other supporting document required to substantiate the facts given in the application form.
