Science Foundation Ireland Industry Fellowship Programme

Science Foundation Ireland is pleased to launch the Industry Fellowship Programme 2016 to develop and support academic partnerships with industry.

The purpose of the Industry Fellowship Programme 2016 is to enhance industry-academia collaborations through the funding of collaborative industry-academia research projects, and to stimulate excellence through knowledge transfer and training of researchers. Fellowships can be awarded to staff and postdoctoral academic researchers based in Ireland, wishing to spend time in industry worldwide (“Academia to Industry” Fellowships), and to individuals from industry anywhere in the world (including Ireland) wishing to spend time in an eligible Irish academic or research institution (“Industry to Academia” Fellowships).  Academic Fellows will gain a working knowledge of relevant business drivers and will gain from industry experience and established contacts. Industry Fellows will gain from upskilling within world-leading academic laboratories and will benefit from access to state-of-the-art equipment and infrastructure.

Fellowships can be for between 1 and 12 months in duration if full time or for up to 24 months if part time. The maximum Industry Fellowship award amount is €100,000 direct costs.

Deadline for proposal submission:

The 2016 Industry Fellowship Programme will have two deadlines.

First Deadline: 13:00 (local time Dublin, Ireland) on the 6th July 2016.

Second Deadline: 13:00 (local time Dublin, Ireland) on the 2nd December 2016.

How to apply

As detailed in the Industry Fellowship Call Document, all proposals are to be submitted via SESAME, Science Foundation Ireland’s online grants and awards management system.

SESAME will be accessible online for this call shortly.

If accessing SESAME for the first time, researchers should contact their local Research Office to be set up on this system.

Please note that Science Foundation Ireland expects a high volume of applications to be submitted to this programme, and has limited SESAME helpdesk resources. To avoid any delays in submission, researchers should familiarise themselves with the SESAME system and online help resources provided well in advance of Science Foundation Ieland and institution internal call deadlines.

Queries relating to SESAME which are not answered in the SESAME FAQ document referred to above should first be directed to your Institute’s Research Office. If still unresolved, queries should be e-mailed to sesame@sfi.ie. Please be aware that the response time for queries may be up to 5 working days.
