Scholarships for Refugees
This scholarship is open to people escaping the worsening humanitarian crisis in Syria, North Africa and the Middle East. The scheme will initially run for three years. The scholarship provides:
- a full fee waiver
- a maintenance award of up to £8,100 to help with living costs
Two scholarships are available for 2016 entrants. If there are more than two applicants a decision on the scholarship awards will be made based on academic ability assessed both by evidence presented in the UCAS application and an assessment of potential academic achievement at York.
Eligibility
- You must have been offered admission to a full-time undergraduate course* for entry in 2016.
- You must be able to demonstrate that you applied for asylum prior to the UCAS application deadline of 15 January 2016.
*Excludes the MBBS programme at Hull York Medical School.
Applying
There is no application form. In order to apply you should send an email to ug-admissions@york.ac.uk saying that you would like to be considered for one of the Scholarships for Refugees.
Please attach copies of any relevant correspondence concerning your application for asylum or your asylum status, showing that you applied for asylum before 15 January 2016.
Closing date
30 April 2016
Decisions will be announced as soon as possible after the closing date.
