Programme Overview

This is a dynamic programme of study that provides students with a comprehensive understanding of media and communication as a complex social process, providing them an insight into fundamental theoretical and methodological concepts and frameworks of media as a scientific discipline.

The programme aims to enable students to work on different projects in the media field, acquiring valuable knowledge and mastering skills in areas such as communication, writing and presentation of media texts in a variety of media formats, critical analysis of media content, media editing, professional media research, investigative journalism and the basics of production in modern media among others. 

The main objective of this study programme is to form educated professionals who are able to critically think and analyse as well as to understand the political, social, cultural, institutional and media communications. Professionals who are listeners and who know how to identify information that is important to the public, with the ability to sensitively and effectively communicate with people from different ethnic, cultural and religious backgrounds.

What you’ll study

Throughout your studies you will develop:

  • The ability to critically think, analyse and interpret media phenomena.
  • The ability to work independently, classifying and selecting references and literature and making correct assumptions.
  • The ability to confidently express and defend your personal ideas and opinions as well as opinions regarding politics and social issues to a wide audience.
  • The practical application of all the acquired theoretical knowledge.
  • Outstanding written, verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
  • The use of computers in teaching, research, communication and writing as well as the application of innovation and modern technologies to media.
  • An in-depth understanding, recognition and critical analysis of the relationship between sign and meaning, discourse and truth, knowledge and science, and the role that these elements of communication and their relationships have in the construction of society
  • A broad knowledge and understanding of the academic and professional skills needed in the Media and Journalism industry: understanding the fundamental concepts, terminology, history and most successful practices in the field.
  • Skills such as communications planning, writing, branding, event planning and campaigning.
  • Understanding the relationship between media and public relations focusing on the development of writing skills that are adapted to the needs of different target audiences as well as the influence of the media in the context of the objectives and needs of organisations and institutions.

Entry Requirements:

  • High School Certificate All candidates with a completed high school education are eligible to apply. Students who have studied part of a degree at a different University or accredited higher education institution can apply for a credit transfer.
  • Proof of English Proficiency* of candidates who have not previously studied in an English speaking school or country.The tests and minimum scores we accept are: - IELTS - 6 - TOEFL iBT - 72 - Cambridge Certificate - B2 - MIUC English Test - Pass

  • Statement of Purpose (500 words on why you want to study at MIUC, your expectations and aspirations)

*Pre-sessional English courses are available to those who do not satisfy the English proficiency requirement.

Tuition fee:

Tuition fee of the programme is 18.900 EUR. ARMACAD provides a special 2,000 EUR scholarship for the MIUC programmes, so if you apply through ARMACAD the tuition fee will be 16,900 EUR.
