Minimum Eligibility Criteria to apply:

The NDTV Deakin Scholarship Program is available across India and is open to applicants who meet the minimum eligibility criterion.

- For Post Graduate Studies at Deakin, the applicant must have

o more than 80% in undergraduate degree

o completed the course within the stipulated time frame

o significant achievements in co-curricular activities

o demonstration of commitment to give back to society, the knowledge and experience

o minimum English language capability as per requirements for the course / area of study at Deakin University

- For Under Graduate Studies at Deakin, the applicant must have

o more than 80% or equivalent in the 12th Indian Board Examinations/ IB / GCSE

o significant achievements in co-curricular activities

o demonstration of commitment to give back to society, the knowledge and experience

o minimum English language capability as per requirements for the course / area of study at Deakin University

Documents required for application (1st Round):

To apply for the NDTV Deakin Scholarship 2016, scholars need to provide the following documentation along with a covering letter mentioning their intent to apply and be sent to: To apply for Post Graduate Studies at Deakin, Scholars must provide the following documentation

- Copy of Grade 10th Mark sheet and Passing certificate (attested by a Gazetted officer or Notarized or by school Principal) - Copy of Grade 11th Mark sheet (attested by a Gazetted officer or Notarized or by school Principal)

- Grade 12 grade (for IB / GCSE students ) / Mark sheet (for CBSE / ICSE students)

– attested by Gazetted officer or School Principal

- Copies of all semester / annual Mark sheet of the Bachelor Degree (attested by a Gazetted officer or Notarized or by College Principal)

- Recommendation Letter / Character certificate from College– signed and attested by college Principal - Copies Certificates related to Extra-Curricular achievements during the last three years (attested by a Gazetted officer or Notarized or by school Principal)

- A 300 – 500 word essay / statement of purpose on “Why should you be considered for the scholarship?”

To apply for Under Graduate Studies at Deakin, Scholars must provide the following documentation

- Copy of Grade 10th Mark sheet and Passing certificate (attested by a Gazetted officer or Notarized or by school Principal) - Copy of Grade 11th Mark sheet (attested by a Gazetted officer or Notarized or by school Principal)

- Grade 12 predicted grade (for IB / GCSE students ) / Pre Board Mark sheet (for CBSE / ICSE students)

- attested by school Principal - Recommendation Letter / Character certificate from School– signed and attested by school Principal

- Copies Certificates related to Extra-Curricular achievements during the last three years (attested by a Gazetted officer or Notarized or by school Principal)

- A 300 – 500 word essay / statement of purpose on “Why should you be considered for the scholarship?”

Completed applications with the above documentation must be sent to ndtv@deakin.edu.au. An acknowledgement of receipt of the application will be sent to you immediately. Further communications of the selection process and other relevant details would be communicated to you progressively.

Timelines for applications

- Applications for Scholarships for Post Graduate studies must reach by 2359 hrs on 30th November 2015

- Applications for Scholarships for Under Graduate studies must reach by 2359 hrs on 30th April 2016.

Selection Process

Selection for the NDTV Deakin Scholarships is a rigorous, three-stage process consisting of application review, semifinal interviews, and on-campus final selection activities. The selection process is absolutely transparent. Application Review: All applications are received and rated on the basis of the scholarship criterion. An acknowledgement of receipt would be sent within 48 hours of application. During this stage of the selection process each shortlisted candidates are also interviewed to understand their background and interest to apply. The interview is based on a questionnaire based on which the candidates are further rated. Based on these ratings, the candidates are further shortlisted to the top 15 applicants. These applicants are then notified of their status at least 10 days prior to the next stage of the selection process. Interview: The top 15 candidates are then invited for a face-to-face interview by a panel consisting of representatives from NDTV and Deakin University. They face a rigorous interview which consists of a presentation by the candidate and a question answer session. The candidates are marked on both. The top 5 candidates are shortlisted from amongst these candidates who are notified of the results at the end of the interview round Final Round: The final round of interview is held by a panel of representatives from the academia, the industry, NDTV and Deakin University. This round is based on a face-to-face interview and a group discussion. The candidates are marked on both and the winner is selected based on the same.
