Research Scientist Position at Fraunhofer Institute for High Frequency Physics and Radar Techniques, Germany

Publish Date: May 19, 2015

The Fraunhofer Institute for High Frequency Physics and Radar Techniques FHR develops concepts, methods and systems for electromagnetic sensors, particularly in the field of radar, together with innovative signal processing methods and state-of-the-art technology in the microwave to the lower terahertz frequency range. Its internationally acknowledged and valued competence covers almost every aspect of modern radar technology. With a budget of € 25 million and more than 270 employees, Fraunhofer FHR as one of about 67 Institutes and facilities of the Fraunhofer-Society is one of the largest radar research institutes in Europe.

The department Antenna Technology and Electromagnetic Modelling (AEM) is currently looking for a  research scientist (m/f) with an academic graduate degree or university master in electrical engineering, specialised in high frequency engineering, radar technology or comparable fields

What we expect from you

The Candidate (m/f) should have solid understanding of hardware integration topics, namely hardware design, components selection and evaluation, PCB prototyping, usage of CAD tools (including Altium Designer).
He/She should have experience in specific techniques aimed at optimizing signal integrity in mixed signals boards covering the S and X bands.
Systematic process and results documentation is regarded as an essential capability for this role. Knowledge about hardware manufacturing and assembly processes are desired side skills.
The Candidate has to be able to propose proactive solutions, to take autonomous decisions concerning daily tasks and to work independently to achieve intermediate results. He/She has to report about achievements, findings and issues promptly. He/She needs strong communication skills and a sound team-working attitude. Fluent English language skills are required.
