Women’s Resource Center” NGO together with the Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung South Caucasus (Tbilisi) organizes the series of public lectures dedicated to the analysis and discussion of the women’s issues in Armenia during the history and nowadays. This public event includes 6 lectures that aim to present women’s issues in Armenia in different spheres of life, such as art, politics, economic relations, military, etc.

Timeline for the lectures for May-July, 2016:

May 19: Militarized Masculinity and Violence within the Army

May 26: Unearthing the Gender Discourse in Armenia: from Hysteria to Constructive Dialogue

Speaker: Anna Harutyunyan

June 2: Why Women Should be Politicized and Should Politicize their Struggle?

June 16: Women's Bodies in Serve of Ideology in Georgian Cinema of 20th Century

Speaker: Tamta Tatarashvili

June 30: Marriage Law and Marriage Culture among Ottoman Armenians, 1876-1914

Speaker: Hasmik Khalapyan

July 7: Gender Quotas: Pro and Against

Speaker: Tamara Hovnatanyan   

The meetings will take place in the evenings from 18:30 to 20:30, at Aeon anti-café, 34 Teryan Street, Yerevan.

The language of the lectures is ARMENIAN. Only the lecture by our Georgian colleague will be conducted in English.

At the end of the lecture series certificates of attendance will be given to the participants. For this you have to participate in all the lectures.
