Postdoctoral Position in Molecular Neuroscience at European Neuroscience Institute Göttingen

The European Neuroscience Institute (ENI, http://www.eni.gwdg.de/) in Göttingen is engaged in experimental molecular and cellular research on the central and peripheral nervous systems.

A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Ira Milosevic (http://www.eni.gwdg.de/index.php?id=374). The laboratory investigates the fundamental aspects of neuronal cell communication that have relevance to neurodegenerative diseases, using mammalian cells and mice as model systems. Neurodegenerative diseases impose a significant burden on affected families and society, and better understanding of underlying pathologies and new cures are greatly needed.

For more information on our approached to study neurodegeneration in mammalian models, see http://www.eni.gwdg.de/index.php?id=405.

More specifically, the candidate will study the processes that regulate synaptic vesicle formation using mouse models that display neurodegenerative changes. S/he should be experienced with advanced techniques in molecular and cellular biology and imaging. Experience with electrophysiological methods would be beneficial.

The ideal candidate should be curious and open-minded. Enthusiasm, reliability and organizational skills are essential. Proficiency in English and ability to work in a team are required.

Qualification

Ph.D. degree in neuroscience, physics, biology or medicine

Applications should contain a letter of interest, CV with publication list, and contact for 3 people that are willing to provide reference letters.
