A three-year PhD studentship with the Open University and Globe Education, Shakespeare’s Globe
Based in Milton Keynes with regular travel to London
The Centre for Research in Education and Educational Technology, at the Open University has an international reputation for the quality of its research. Providing research students with a supportive environment and excellent research facilities ensures a future supply of first class researchers. In conjunction with the highly prestigious Globe Theatre and with the Open University’s Department of English, CREET offers you a unique opportunity to study from October 2016 for a three-year full-time PhD in Playing Shakespeare.
Every year Globe Education’s flagship schools programme Playing Shakespeare with Deutsche Bank creates a high quality production of a Shakespeare play specifically designed for young people. The project provides free training for around 200 teachers and in-school workshops for around 3,000 students, backing this up with a range of digital resources. The aim of the Playing Shakespeare Full-time Studentship will be to explore the impact of the programme upon secondary school students.
There is currently a vibrant international community of students studying our PhD programmes. The Open University provides excellent support for students and offers a full range of training in computer, library and presentation skills.
Funding is available for UK, EU, EEA and International students who currently hold a tier 4 visa to study in the UK. Full funding for PhD studentships will include fees and maintenance (£14, 296 in 2016) for three years, depending on satisfactory progress.
Closing date: 7 September 2016.
Interviews will commence in late September 2016, for immediate entry.
We promote diversity in employment and welcome applications from all sections of the community.
