Innovational Research Incentives Scheme Vici - Health Research and Medical Sciences

The Innovational Research Incentives Scheme Vici is a grant for senior researchers.

Purpose

Vici is a funding instrument from the Talent Scheme. It gives senior researchers the opportunity to build up their own research group, often in anticipation of a tenured professorship. The research group must become structurally embedded in the research institution.

Who can apply

Vici is targeted at outstanding senior researchers who have successfully demonstrated the ability to develop their own innovative lines of research, and to act as coaches for young researchers. Researchers who have obtained their PhD within the last 15 years can apply for a Vici grant. There may be a possibility of an extension in some cases like care responsibilities and/or training in a clinical specialism. 

A researcher can submit a maximum of three Vici preproposals throughout his/her career.

What can be applied for

The maximum grant is 1.5 million euros.

When to apply

• Submission deadline for the 2019 round (pre-proposals) was 26 March 2019, 14:00:00 hrs (CET)
• Closing date for the submission of full proposals is 27 August 2019 14:00:00 hrs (CEST)

When you submit your application to ISAAC/Mijn ZonMw you need to enter several additional details online. Be aware that ZonMw applications are in a different format than of other domains. 

Assessment

All Vici applications are assessed in a nationwide competition.

Criteria

The assessment criteria are:

• quality of the researcher
• quality, innovative character and academic impact of the research proposal
• knowledge utilisation
