The MA in Applied Economics is a US degree, nostrificated in the Czech Republic by Masaryk University.

Program Details

The MA in Applied Economics program reflects the increasingly significant role that economics plays in today’s world. It combines theoretical mathematics-based economics with real-life applications. You will develop your ability to apply economic reasoning to real-world business and public policy issues, and expand your skills in data analysis and interpretation.

During your studies you can specialize in financial economics, public policy,macroeconomics and forecasting or corporate economics. You will gain analytical skills and learn to solve practical problems while earning the Master of Arts in Applied Economics degree in one year. After graduation you will be well prepared to take up a challenging position as an analyst, economist or consultant in either the private or public sector, to pursue managerial positions or to set up your own business.

Academic Calendar

The program is divided into three semesters, each 12 weeks long. You will study full-time for one year. If you are interested in a part-time option, contact us at mae@cerge-ei.cz. Please note, however, that the Fall Semester is very difficult to do part time.

Tuition

The MA in Applied Economics is a tuition-based program. In addition to the tuition payments, you are expected to cover your own living expenses.

Tuition level for the full MA in Applied Economics program depends on the admissions round:

Scholarships

Exceptionally well-prepared applicants are eligible for partial scholarships. Scholarship decisions are made by the Admissions Committee based on submitted documents and interview results. There is no special application to obtain a scholarship.

Scholarships are given in the form of tuition discounts for exceptionally well-prepared applicants, based on a complete application package (no special procedure to apply for a discount). The lowest tuition level is 7,000 USD. Full scholarships are not available.

It is possible for students to obtain bank loans and other support for study. The MA in Applied Economics program staff will be happy to provide documents required to apply for a study loan upon request.

Admissions

Since its inception in 1991, CERGE-EI has educated students from 43 countries on 5 continents in modern economics.
