University of Auckland Health Research Doctoral Scholarships
The main purpose of the Scholarships is to encourage and support academically excellent students to study for a Doctorate in a health-related area.
Value of Award: Up to $25,000 pa plus compulsory fees

Selection Criteria
Selection will be based on academic merit (measured by the grade point average assessed over the applicant's two most recent years of equivalent full-time study), quality of research proposal and endorsement by the proposed supervisor and host academic unit.

The Scholarships will be awarded by the University of Auckland Council upon the recommendation of a subcommittee of Postgraduate and Scholarships Committee comprising the Postgraduate Dean (or nominee); the DVC (research) or nominee, two representatives from the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, and one representative from each of the Faculties of Arts and Science.
How and when do students learn of the decision?
Approximately six weeks after closing date by letter or email.
What conditions are attached to acceptance of this award?
Students are required to begin their studies by 1 December in the year of the award.
To comply with the full time study requirements the amount of additional and paid work a Scholar may undertake either inside or outside the University shall not exceed a total of 500 hours in a calendar year.

Additional information
- Applicants must meet the eligibility criteria for registration for a doctorate as described in the statutes of the University and will need to have an appropriate research programme in a health-related area and provide evidence that it has been accepted by the proposed supervisor and the Head of the Department in which the research is to be carried out.
- Students who have been offered a scholarship must meet all requirements for admission into their intended programme in order to take up the scholarship offer.
