HAN Excellence & Holland Scholarship
The HAN Excellence and Holland Scholarship programme is jointly offered by HAN University of Applied Sciences (HAN-UAS) and the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science. Scholarships are granted to international students from outside the European Economic Area (EEA)* enrolling for a Bachelors programme in the Netherlands. For the 2017-2018 academic year a total of 63 scholarships are available.
The scholarship amounts to a yearly award of € 2,500 for the duration of a maximum study period of 4 years, under the condition that you show sufficient study progress (a minimum 75% of credit points achieved and a positive study advise). For the top 20 to 25 ranked applications, an additional amount of € 2,500 will be awarded in the first study year. The ranking is based on motivation, presentation, grades and English level.
You are allowed to use matching funds from other scholarships to cover the additional expenses of your study programme.
*The EEA consists of the EU countries and Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland.
Deadlines and Other Information
The application link will go live on 1 April 2017 until 1 May 2017 (open till 12 p.m. midnight Central European Standard Time). Only complete applications will be taken into consideration.
You must consider that it takes approximately 2 weeks to process your admissions application and that a copy of your admission letter must be provided with the application. Hence you should have submitted your admission application well in advance of 1 April.
You will be notified on or before 1 June if you have been selected for the scholarship. Kindly do not email us with questions about your application status before 1 June.
If you have double nationality (i.e. E.E.R. and non-E.E.R., such as Spanish and Venezuelan), your E.E.R. nationality will be used as your first nationality and therefore exempts you from participating in the HAN Excellence and Holland Scholarship. However, it does qualify you to pay E.E.R. tuition which is significantly lower than non-E.E.R. tuition combined with a Holland Scholarship award
Scholarship Criteria
If you want to apply for the HAN Excellence and Holland Scholarship, you need to meet the following criteria:
- You are a national of a country outside the European Economic Area (EEA)*
- You have not previously been enrolled in a higher education degree course in the Netherlands
- You have applied and been admitted to a full-time Bachelors course starting August 2017
- You have an IELTS score of 6.0 (or equivalent)
