GESS 2016 focuses on MIGRATION and takes place from September 10th-16th!

During the Global Entrepreneurship Summer School (GESS), 105 outstanding students located in three cities around the world – Munich, Shanghai and Mexico City – will get together and experience real entrepreneurship with a social impact. It is all about doing!

Simultaneously with two other cities, you will work in international and interdisciplinary teams to develop ideas that have both a sustainable impact for society and a self-sustaining, profitable business model. Over the course of 7 days, you will learn about entrepreneurship, develop your own sustainable business ideas, and build a long-lasting network of talented and entrepreneurial international friends. A series of interactive lectures by renowned entrepreneurs structure the project work and provide you with complementary knowledge (e.g. business planning or topic-specific issues). Throughout the GESS, your team is partnered with coaches who provide you and your team with feedback and assistance on your project, business plan, and technical questions. At these end of the course, you and your team will pitch your idea to an audience more than 200 guests and you should definitely not miss the celebration afterwards!

OUR PHILOSOPHY

The Global Entrepreneurship Summer School (GESS) approaches the important role of combining education, entrepreneurship, and networking for sustainable development.

The vision of GESS is based on the philosophy of creating claim “billion dollar projects to foster Societal change“. We want to encourage and connect outstanding students from all over the world to challenge society’s problems by entrepreneurial means. We want our students to think big and contribute to sustainable change in the dimension of billion.

The Global Entrepreneurship Summer School started in 2008 as a collaborative project of the four leading university-based entrepreneurship centers in Munich, along with the Social Entrepreneurship Akademie and has become a global cooperation of six universities in three continents – that’s why we believe in the power of entrepreneurial collaboration and thinking for a better and sustainable future.

 

WHO CAN APPLY?

All undergraduate and graduate students, aged 18 – 27, from all fields are welcome to apply (e.g., design, computer science, business economics, humanities, social sciences). You must be enrolled at a university at some point during the 2016 calendar year. For example, if you are only enrolled until February 2016, you can still apply even though you are not enrolled in September 2016. Our enrollment policy also applies to graduate applicants, including MBA and PhD students.

CAN I CHOOSE WHERE I WANT TO ATTEND?

You can let us know your preference of city, but your assigned is determined by the GESS team. This is done to benefit all students through ascertaining a diverse and talented learning environment.

IS THERE A TUITION FEE?

Yes. We charge a non-refundable tuition fee of EUR 119.00 per selected participant. Paying the tuition fee on time is a requirement in order to participate in GESS. Fees are paid via Paypal upon being selected, and applicants are responsible for covering any associated transfer fees, if applicable.

ARE THERE SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE?

Yes. After being selected, you can apply for 1 of 10 competitive travel scholarships per venue. The scholarship covers 50% of your travel expenses from your country to the venue (flight ticket), with a maximum of EUR 500.00. You will receive this grant in cash during your stay, so all grant recipients must be able to cover all expenses upfront prior to GESS.

ACCOMMODATION

Participants do not have to pay for their accommodation, as we will provide you with accommodation in either shared student dorms or private rooms at fellow participants’ homes. If you would like to arrive earlier or stay longer, you will be responsible for covering your accommodation expenses outside the program dates.
