Distinguished MBA Scholars, SMU Cox School of Business
The Cox Distinguished MBA Scholars Program is the most prestigious and competitive scholarship program at SMU Cox. This highly selective program awards 5 full-tuition scholarships each year to the best and brightest Cox MBA candidates.
Students selected as Cox Distinguished MBA Scholars have the opportunity to enhance their business school experience through unique travel opportunities. Scholars participate in career enhancing forums in New York City and Washington D.C. during Spring Break of each of their two years in the Full-Time MBA Program. In New York City, students will visit the New York Stock Exchange and some of the world's leading financial institutions. They also travel to Washington, D.C. to broaden their awareness of the connections between business and government.
Strong candidates for the Cox Distinguished MBA Scholars Program will have the following attributes:
- Outstanding academic aptitude
• Rigorous undergraduate curriculum (3.6+ GPA preferred)
• Performance on the GMAT (700+ GMAT preferred) - Strong leadership skills, demonstrated in professional, academic, and/or community settings
- Significant work experience (minimum 3 years) and solid progression of professional achievement
- Clearly defined career goals
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong sense of social responsibility and business ethics
Eligibility Information
All applications submitted by January 11, 2016 will be considered for the program. Finalists will need to prepare responses to essays that will be discussed during your on-campus interview with faculty and current Cox Distinguished MBA Scholars in February 2016. If you are selected as a Cox Distinguished MBA Scholar, this award would replace any other scholarship award you may have already received from the Cox School of Business.
In order to apply to the graduate programs at the Cox School of Business, you must first create an account through our on-line application system. You will create a Username and Password that will allow you to work on your application over several sessions. Your information is transmitted through a secured server, and is kept confidential until you submit your application. If you started an application but do not remember your Username or Password, please use the "forgot my username or password" link to reset it.

There is NO application fee. Our goal is to consider every candidate. We understand that the cost of applying to graduate programs can be cumbersome and the Cox School will subsidize the cost of the application fee for all candidates who have a serious interest in our program.
Only after you SUBMIT your application and all supporting documents have been uploaded or received will it be available for review by the Admissions Committee.
You can only submit your application one time. You may also only submit your application to one of the graduate programs accessible through this system at one time.
