invite to participate in the deliberations of the First International Symposium on
"Politics and Society in the Islamic world"
Łódź, 22-23 October 2015
Planned as a joint initiative of the Department of Middle East and North Africa, University of Łodz, the Department of Arabic Language and Culture, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun and the Department of European of Warsaw University the international symposium will focus on political and social issues of the Muslim world in the 20th and 21st century. Presentations on the various parts of the Islamic world – from Morocco to South-East Asia, including also the Muslims in the diaspora – will analyze issues of domestic policy of states inhabited by Muslims as well as foreign policy and international relations. In the 21st century, especially after the so-called „Arab Spring”, a change of some paradigms regarding issues fundamental to the development of the world where Muslims or those who rely on Islam play a crucial role is widely visible. It can be both edifying and destructive force. These problems are exposed with various viewpoints, using a variety of methodologies and national perspectives. Symposium has an interdisciplinary character, all researchers representing different fields and disciplines are invited to participate in the initiative.

The fee must be paid until July 1, 2015 the bank account 13 1240 3028 1978 0000 2822 25504, typing in the title transfer Islamic Symposium. The conference fee includes:
– conference materials;
– participation in the banquet;
– article publication after a positive review. It does not include the cost of travel and accommodation (organizers provide assistance in finding accommodation).
