Colloquium on Teaching English in Remote Areas of Armenia, AUA

The colloquium will focus on current developments and challenges of English language education in remote areas of Armenia from both micro and macro perspectives. Three organizations, The Children of Armenia Fund, Peace Corps Armenia and Teach for Armenia, will report on their initiatives in uplifting the educational status of children in remote areas of Armenia through English language instruction and will have an extended discussion with the audience on how we can contribute to sustainable rural learning ecologies by providing quality English language instruction.

The Children of Armenia Fund (COAF) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization that uses community-led approaches to reduce rural poverty, with a focus on education, healthcare, community, and economic development.

The Peace Corps program in Armenia seeks to assist communities in addressing their needs, through person-to-person grassroots approach to development. Primary projects focus on development of English proficiency, business skills, health and environmental awareness.

The mission of Teach for Armenia is to improve educational outcomes for all children in Armenia by recruiting and training exceptional individuals to teach in underserved schools
