Caux Peace and Leadership Forum 2017, Switzerland

Publish Date: Jan 12, 2017

Deadline: Jan 15, 2017

Why this programme?

Service to others, as a first step to peace and true leadership lies at the heart of Caux’s approach. Caux offers training, an experiential learning environment in one of the departments and active participation in the Caux Forum main events to a diverse group of people who stay for a month (or a session), over the summer. The Caux Peace and Leadership Programme is for people who care about personal and global change; and who want to challenge themselves to make a difference.

This new programme is the result of a combination of the former Caux Interns Leadership Programme and Caux Volunteers, revamped to give participants more opportunity to have both training and experience which suits their needs and those of their communities.

What makes this programme a unique learning experience?

In Caux we aim to create a unique atmosphere that enables Programme Participants to:

  • Engage with people from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures,
  • Be inspired to contribute to peace initiatives in their communities, society and countries,
  • Explore the link between personal and global change - impacting the world by starting with oneself,
  • Meet and converse with thought leaders and changemakers from around the world
  • Learn and develop a wide range of skills including peacebuilding, leadership, management, teambuilding, as well as practical skills in a variety of environments through training and practical application,
  • Learn more about Initiatives of Change (IofC) principles and methodology (reflective practice, storytelling, value-based decision making, cross-cultural and cross-generational communication and teamwork) and have an opportunity to put its values and approach into practice,
  • Have fun!

A training programme tailored to your needs

The integrated Caux Peace and Leadership Programme will in 2017 be divided into three groups depending on familiarity with Initiatives of Change (IofC) and experience.  All groups will include training, attendance in conferences and time for both practical application of their training in one of the departments involved in the running of the Caux Forum and for personal reflection. The training caters to new and returning participants; it is guided by their own needs and allows both individual choice and progression.

• Group 1 –  Trainee Stream

This group is open to those who are interested in peacebuilding, cross-cultural and cross-generational dialogue and who are looking for a first experience in peacebuilding and leadership in a diverse and unique environment. Applicants for Group 1 know little about the principles and approach of IofC and have not been to Caux before. Although most participants of this group are 18-30 (former Caux Interns Programme), all ages are welcome.

• Group 2 – Application Stream

Participants already have a basic knowledge of the principles and approach of IofC and want to apply this knowledge in various departments in Caux. This will be a follow-on stream for those who have already been on a CAUX-IofC programme or a similar training at another IofC training centre.

• Group 3 – Practitioner Stream

This new group is for participants who want to develop specific skills (i.e. in project management, team management, budget management) to prepare them for a practical opportunity or a project in their communities after Caux.

Please note that you are not restricted to just one group. You will have an individual learning plan which will be tailored to your needs as much as possible before arriving in Caux. At the end of the training you will receive a certificate of successful completion.

The dominant working language in Caux is English, but this is not exclusively the case. We do however ask for proficiency in English for all applicants, and French and/or German are a real bonus!

The programme is open to any person aged 18 and over
