Regional Master’s Programme in Human Rights and Democratization: Deadline for Application Extended

The YSU Center for European Studies is happy to announce that deadline  for Regional Master’s Programme in Human Rights and Democratization in Armenia Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine 2011-2013 application submission has been extend up to 10 June 2011.

Programme Description 

The Regional Master’s Programme in Human Rights and Democratization is established with financial support of the European Union in 2010. This is an interdisciplinary programme (with legal, political and interdisciplinary components), which lasts two years (4 terms). This programme is offered by four leading universities in Eastern Partnership Region: Yerevan State University (coordinator), Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv,Belarusian State University, University of European Political and Economic Studies (USPEE) in Moldova. The official languages of the Programme are English and Russian.

Admission Requirements

The Regional Master’s Programme in Human Rights and Democratization is open to all interested applicants who hold bachelor’s degree or a degree equivalent to bachelor’s. The applicant shall also be fluent in English and Russian, have professional and/or research interest in human rights and democratization issues. Academic and/or professional experience in abovementioned fields is an asset. 

Along with the deadline extension the admission requirements have been amended.  The English Language Proficiency Test (TOEFL, IELTS) Score will not be a specific requirement for admission. Instead, interviews with shortlisted candidates will be held in English.

Admission Procedure

All applicants of the Master’s Programme need to apply using online system at www.regionalmaster.net. Please make sure that you have prepared all the required documents beforehand.

List of required documents

·      A full Curriculum Vita

·      Motivation Letters (500-1000 words) both in English and Russian

·      Names and contact details of 2 References (one from academia, and one from a current or former employer, if the applicant has work experience)

·      Scanned University Diploma(s)

·      Certified copies of Academic Transcripts (English or Russian translation)

Optional. If you have taken TOEFL or IELTS TEST please provide also English Proficiency Test Score – TOEFL (PBT 513-550,IBT 65-78) or IELTS (5.5-6.0)

Scholarship

There is no tuition fee for the Regional Master’s Programme in Human Rights and Democratization.  The Programme will provide full scholarships covering travel costs and monthly stipend equal to Euro 250 for living expenses and accommodation. Scholarships will be provided only to non-resident students.

Deadline

The deadline for Application submission is 10 June, 2011. Short listed applicants will be notified and interviews will be completed by June 30, 2011. Admitted students will receive their official letters of invitation by July 15, 2010.

Selection Criteria

Coordination Board will evaluate the applicants based on the following Criteria:

·      Academic merit (Educational background, CV)

·      Motivation: Interest in human rights and democratization issues

·      Commitment to idea of voluntarism and social involvement

·      Experience in relevant fields.
