The Summer School will run from Monday, August 29, till Friday, September 9, 2016. There will be no classes on Sunday, September 4. The Summer School is organized in modules, so students can enroll according to their preferences (see course outline below).

The sessions start at 9:30 and end at 17:30. There will 30 minutes break, both in the morning and in the afternoon, with a lunch break between 13:00 and 14:00. Each day of the course will comprise 5 hours of core teaching and exercise + 1 hour of free exercises and one-to-one interaction with the instructor.

Throughout the course 3 statistical packages will be used: MATLAB, R and Stata. There will be three one-day introductory course on Stata and R and MATLAB, plus a day on advanced R; courses 1, 6 & 8, respectively. Stata and R will be available in our Lab/Class room. Prior knowledge on MATLAB is required for those attending the course 5, ‘Applications of the Continuous Wavelet Transform to Economic Data’. Students attending this module should bring their own laptop with MATLAB.

The course is designed for academic researchers, including Master/PhD students, who have a basic knowledge of statistics and econometrics, and who deal with different types of data and projects in their day-to-day work. The course is also recommended to non-academic staff with an interest in data analysis from an econometric perspective. Professionals who are interested to learn different techniques and raise their awareness of possible methodologies that can be used in their current or future projects will greatly benefit from this course. The course will be taught in English.
