University Fellowships *

This competitive fellowship is for new Ph.D. students who have exceptional academic records and are registering for the first time Fall Semester 2021.  A University Fellowship is the highest award the College of Graduate Studies makes and includes a stipend (as defined by each departmental program) and remission of the out-of-state surcharge, instructional fees, general fees and other student fees.  This fellowship may be renewed for up to three years for a total of four years of support provided the student maintains an outstanding academic record and makes significant progress toward the degree.  Applicants must be full-time doctoral students beginning Fall 2021.  JD, MD and PharmD programs are not eligible.  Acceptance by the program is required prior to award designation.  Previous recipients are not eligible.  Application deadline is February 19, 2021.

Richard L Bostleman Memorial Scholarship *

 For prospective full-time students who will begin Fall 2021 in the College of Graduate Studies. This scholarship is not awarded annually; applicants should contact COGS to determine if applications will be accepted for Fall 2021. Applicants must have successfully completed an undergraduate degree at UT as well have participated for at least two years in NCAA level intercollegiate athletics.  Application deadline is February 19, 2021.

Graduate Dean’s Scholars and Fellows

The Graduate Dean’s Scholars and Fellows will act as ambassadors for the College of Graduate Studies and support its efforts to provide rich and rewarding experiences that enhance inclusion and exhibit the rich human diversity of our graduate programs. This Diversity and Inclusion Initiative also provides funding for Masters and Doctoral students at the University of Toledo who contribute to the diversity of their program of study and/or the university community.  Application deadline will be in early spring semester, date tbd.

Michigan Initiative Award

This award is available to graduate students regularly admitted to a degree program (excluding EMBA, EMSL, Law, Doctor of Pharmacy, M.D. program, MSBS-Medical Sciences program, and Physician Assistant program) entering any semester from the following Michigan counties:  Hillsdale, Lenawee, Macomb, Oakland, Washtenaw and Wayne. The award is available for those courses listed on the student's current Graduate Plan of Study; required to be submitted to COGS after the first semester of attendance. This award is not stackable with any other scholarship, award, or GA/TA award.

  • Award:  Covers Graduate out-of-state tuition surcharge, up to a maximum of 9 credit hours per semester. Additional credit hours maybe allowed with academic program and College of Graduate Studies approval. Tuition refers to graduate level courses only and may not be applied to undergraduate courses; even if part of students plan of study; audited courses, or repeated courses. Students receiving the Michigan Initiative Award must maintain a 3.0 GPA during their graduate studies to continue receiving the award in future semesters.
  • Minimum Requirements: Available to students whose permanent address is within one of the following Michigan counties:  Hillsdale, Lenawee, Macomb, Oakland, Washtenaw and Wayne.
  • Renewal Criteria: Award is renewable for up to 8 semesters, based on academic eligibility.
  • Please note Monroe County Michigan residents, are eligible for an exemption of the out of state tuition surcharge and not eligible for this award.

Sister Cities Award

This award is available to graduate students regularly admitted to a degree program entering any semester, effective fall 2005, and does not require an application, however, student must fill out a Terms and Conditions form before the award will be placed on their student account. The award is available for those courses listed on the students' current Graduate Plan of Study; required to be submitted to COGS after the first semester of attendance. This award is not stackable with any other scholarship, award, or GA/TA award.

  • Award: Covers Graduate out-of-state tuition surcharge, up to a maximum of 9 credit hours per semester. Additional credit hours maybe allowed with academic program and College of Graduate Studies approval.
