The J. Gonda Fund Foundation supports the scholarly study of Sanskrit, other classical Indian languages and literatures, and Indian cultural history.
Since 1992, the Foundation has funded projects, fellowships and scholarly publications and re-issues of existing works. It also organises and publishes the annual Gonda Lecture. The Foundation’s assets consist of the estate of Indologist Jan Gonda, who was a member of the Academy.
What does it cover?
Three kinds of applications:
- Funding for a project or publication in Indology of researchers or scientific publishers. Read more
- Gonda Fellowship to promising young Indologists at post-doctorate level, enabling them to stay at the International Institute for Asian Studies (IIAS) in Leiden, the Netherlands. Read more
- Grants to promising PhD students in the Netherlands for a special research project, a working visit abroad, or another activity. Read more
