1.) HBRS PhD programs (Molecular Medicine, Infection Biology/DEWIN, Regenerative Sciences
Applications for the October 2020 intake are accepted from 1st December 2019 until 1st April 2020! (Master degree, MBBS or equivalents are required)
Application to the MD/PhD program, PhD Infection Biology and PhD Regenerative Sciences
Procedure in short (might differ from other German universities!):
Step 1: apply to one of the PhD programs (online for three main programs)
Step 2: get selected
Step 3: match with a project/ supervisor after selection
Usually open projects are out shortly before the interviews in June.
Of course, you are very welcome to apply to our programs if you have already been accepted for a project/ have started to work. However, this does not automatically guarantee an acceptance in our graduate cheschool as well.
All of our open projects are evaluated by committees in advance. Your financial support either by stipend or employment status is guaranteed.
The start of our three main programs (MolMed, Infection Biology, RegScience) is always once a year in October. All students receive either a stipend (1500,- Euro/ month) or a salary. There are only matriculation fees of about 300,- Euro/ semester
Requirements:
Students with a Master (or Bachelor of Honors with at least 6 months molecular research experience), diploma in life sciences, or medical degree (Staatsexamen, MBBS) are welcome to apply to all PhD programs. You should have at least 6 months of independent research experience (e.g. Master thesis, Dr.med. thesis). We require very good knowledge of English (usually TOEFL or other tests). Students have to give us two letters of reference.
The PhD program "Regenerative Sciences" also welcomes applications from bio-engineers!
2.) Lower Saxony International Summer Academy in Immunology (LISA)
Applications for the academy in August/September are accepted from 15th January until 30th April 2020! (Bachelor, Master or MBBS students)
To apply for the programs at Hannover Biomedical Research School you first have to register. After registration you will receive an email including your activation hyperlink. By clicking on this hyperlink, you will confirm your registration. Please note: if you had already registered with our HBRS site before 1st December 2019, you need to create a new login/register new (new email, login, password)!
The confirmation email should come at once.
Follow the instructions during the application process and submit your application after you filled in all required fields. Please be aware, that you won't be able to edit your application after submission.
As a part of the application you will have to choose one (LISA) or two (PhD programs) referees who will write a letter of recommendation on your behalf. Please ensure that the email of your referee is correct. The system will send a link and login to your referee, so that he/she will be able to directly fill in and upload the evaluation form to your application. You can submit your application even though references are not there yet. We accept the evaluations till April 11th (PhD) or May 15th (LISA).
