Publish Date: Mar 04, 2019

Deadline: Nov 16, 2019

The FMI International PhD Program

The FMI PhD programs offers students the opportunity to carry out cutting-edge biomedical research in a stimulating, highly international and collaborative atmosphere. Affiliated with the Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research and the University of Basel, the FMI provides interdisciplinary training and access to advanced technologies in the form of state-of-the-art technology platforms, e.g. advanced microscopy, genomics, proteomics, protein structure and bioinformatics.

PhD students work together with internationally recognized scientists in the fields of epigenetics, neurobiology, and quantitative biology, developing their research projects with their group leader. In addition to guidance from their advisor, students are also advised by their thesis committee members, as well as the FMI Dean of Students and the Guidance Counsellor who serve to support their academic and professional development.

A wide range of theoretical and practical courses is available at both the FMI and the University of Basel. After completion of their research, submission of a written thesis and successful thesis defense, candidates are awarded a PhD from the University of Basel.
