The Bartlett Summer School 2019

Applications are now open for 16-18 year-old students to explore architecture next summer at The Bartlett, with five-day, ten-day and three-week programmes.

Introduction

The Bartlett Summer Schools are an opportunity for 16 to 18-year-olds to explore imaginative thinking, surveying, speculation and construction for the first time, using the school's outstanding workshops and facilities.

Welcoming participants from all over the world, students work individually and collaboratively to produce drawings, objects, models and larger installations, under the guidance of The Bartlett’s skilled and experienced tutors.

The courses are taught through a series of small group and individual tutorials, finishing with a joint one-day exhibition of work. A private view will give staff, students and their guests a chance to celebrate the work produced during the course. A Certificate of Study will be awarded on the day (please note, this programme is not an accredited course).

Over the past nine years, students have developed and presented projects in different media, such as installation pieces, single drawing, walking models, books and performing apparatus.

Five-day Summer School

A short course to introduce 16 to 18-year-olds to the study of architecture at degree level in London. Students will visit several architectural exhibitions, offices and sites of interest before working for three days on a collaborative drawing or model, informed by their experiences.

This short course has been designed for students looking for a brief introduction to architecture school and to develop their understanding of the practice as fundamentally collaborative, as well as their drawing and model-making skills.
