Consultant for Communicable Diseases Programme (Tuberculosis), full time position

Duty Station: WHO Country Office in Armenia

Duration of the contract: Beginning/Mid of August- end of December 2018 (with possible extension based on the performance and availability of funds)

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

One of the major programmatic areas of the WHO Country Office in Armenia is related to the strengthening of communicable diseases, including support to implementation of the END TB Strategy and multidrug resistant (MDR) Tuberculosis (TB) response and developing the respective policies and tools, addressing determinants of TB and improved collaborative TB/HIV activities, optimization of prevention, diagnosis, treatment and care outcomes.

In order to fulfil the above mentioned responsibilities in a high quality and timely manner the WHO Country Office will hire a technical consultant on a special service agreement basis.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

As part of the WHO Country Office team, the contractor performs a variety of technical, administrative and logistical services in support of the implementation of activities within the frames of Communicable Diseases Programme (with focus on TB) within the overall framework of the Biennial Collaborative Agreement between the WHO Regional Office for Europe and the MoH Armenia. Specifically, the contractor:

1) Provides technical, administrative and logistical assistance on different aspects of the Communicable Diseases Programme on request of/together with the Programme Coordinator for Communicable Diseases:

2) Provides technical and administrative assistance to the TB programme implementation, including a) technical input for country missions in accordance with the programme activities, and logistical and programmatic support during the missions in the country; b) technical support to the Programme Coordinator in the organization of meetings and joint activities held in the country; c) preparatory arrangements for other country and regional/intercountry activities, like study tours, workshops, trainings, seminars, consultations, meetings; d) operational support in drafting, preparation, and following up of committal documents; e) input in preparation of briefs, reports (including monthly reports) and updates on projects implementation; f)  assistance in the implementation of any other tasks related to the Communicable Diseases Programme (with main focus on TB) as needed and as assigned by the Head of the WHO Country Office.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential: University Degree in Medicine or related fields.

Desirable: Master's Degree in Public Health.

Experience

Essential: Training and experience in public health area, progressively responsible experience (minimum 1 year) in the project implementation.

Desirable: Knowledge of and experience with the UN/WHO programmes in the area of communicable diseases. Work experience with different national and international organizations and stakeholders. Good knowledge of national health care system in Armenia.

Skills

Essential: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office programmes (MS Word, Excel, Power point, etc)

Essential: Expert knowledge of English and Armenian, Russian is asset.

REMUNERATION

Gross monthly salary of 660,000 AMD.
