The Department of Environmental Sciences, Informatics and Statistics at Università Ca' Foscari Venezia invites applications for a post-doc fellowship in: Analysis of climate change effects on the structure and functioning of aquatic environments.

TITLE: Analysis of climate change effects on the structure and functioning of aquatic environments; SSD: 05C1; Tutor: Fabio Pranovi; Abstract: The research activity will be focalized on the climate change effects on the structure and functioning of aquatic ecosystems, both freshwater and coastal marine systems, with particular attention about the fishery activities in the Northern Adriatic Sea and the lake of Garda.

The post-doc will be required to:

 Build up individual-based models to analyse the temperature effects of population dynamic in fish, such as the whitefish;

 Apply food web models to assess possible effects of CC on the functioning of the two case studies, with reference to the available climate scenarios;

 Support the stakeholders engagement activity, and the meeting preparation.

The research may be carried out in English. The fellowship is intended to provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to pursue his/her own research while benefiting from the range of expertise at Università Ca' Foscari Venezia. Who can apply Prospective candidates are expected to hold a master’s degree in Environmental Sciences or related disciplines. Ca' Foscari encourages applications from researchers with positive evaluation in all the criteria in individual proposals such as Marie Skłodowska Curie Actions - Individual Fellowships/ERC Starting Grants/FIRB (Italian Fund for basic research investments)/SIR (Scientific Young Independence Research) or similar. Researchers having successfully completed by 30/04/2018 Marie Skłodowska Curie Actions - Individual Fellowships/ERC Starting Grants/FIRB (Italian Fund for basic research investments)/SIR (Scientific Young Independence Research) or similar funded projects are warmly encouraged to apply.

Duration of contract:

12 months approximately starting: June/July 2018

Stipend: The research fellowship amounts to 23.367,00 Euros per year, including taxes and social charges.

Candidates will be required to demonstrate the following skills, knowledge and expertise:

The interview:

- climate change impact on exploited populations;

- the use of individual-based model for studying population dynamics; - the role of stakeholders engagement within the context of the implementation of climate change adaptation plans

- Good knowledge of English

- Good knowledge of Italian (in case of foreign candidates) Candidates living farther than 200 Kms from Venice may ask to hold a telematic interview.
