MPIfG Visiting Researchers Program
The Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies (MPIfG) is an internationally renowned center for research in the social sciences. It is a place where researchers from around the world can meet, discuss, and work together. Its visiting researcher's program aims at bringing fresh ideas to the Institute’s research and provides opportunities for interdisciplinary and international networking.
The program is intended for researchers from the fields of Economic Sociology, Political Economy, and Modern History and offers stays generally ranging from 2 to 12 months. Applications are welcome from professors based either in Germany or abroad as well as postdoctoral and doctoral students. Your intended research project should relate to the MPIfG’s research program and ongoing projects at the Institute.
Application
Applicants are asked to provide a funding plan. If your application is successful, you will receive a letter of invitation that you can use to approach grant-funding institutions. In exceptional cases, the MPIfG can provide support for living costs or a fellowship for a period lasting up to six months. Visiting researchers are provided with a desk and have full access to the Institute’s service infrastructure.
Your application should include
- a C.V.
- the contact information of two referees
- a list of your publications
- a two- to three-page proposal on your intended research at the MPIfG
Submit your application online as a single PDF file, in English or German, by the deadline for the following winter semester (starting October 1) and by October 31 for the following summer semester (starting April 1).
