3 Fellows positions available in Advanced Robotic Teleoperation Development

The Advanced Robotics Research Line at IIT, Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia, an English-language research Institute, is seeking highly motivated fellows with key development roles in different areas including mechatronics, software development and augmented and virtual reality user interfaces.

The selected candidates will join a motivated, inter-disciplinary group of researchers and engineers, and have the opportunity to pursue research and development within the project “Sistemi Cibernetici Collaborativi – Teleoperation” in collaboration with INAIL (“Istituto Nazionale per l'Assicurazione contro gli Infortuni sul Lavoro” - National Institute for Insurance against Workplace Injuries, Italy) CUP J32F17000950005.

This project will develop new software and hardware systems as part of the master station in advanced robotic teleoperation in high-risk industrial environments with the aim of reducing risks to workers’ health and safety. The project will use, develop, and integrate advanced technologies on tele-locomotion and haptic tele-manipulation for robots providing an immersive 3D user interaction experience. The project will build on the strong existing technological capabilities in the group, acquired through the successful implementation of various high-tech projects in this field. The technical know-how of previous projects, including HyQ, WearHap, µRALP, Robo-Mate, and WalkMan, will contribute to the development of an advanced, intuitive teleoperation user interface.

The successful candidates will be offered a 1-year contract with a highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Please see below for details regarding each individual position.

Expected start date: January 2018 (or soon after).

To apply, please send electronically: (i) a detailed CV, (ii) university transcripts, (iii) a letter outlining motivation, and (iv) 2 contacts for references, to nikhil.deshpande@iit.it by November 9th, 2017. State the position and code you are applying for in the subject line of the email.
