Interim Research Director – Vacancy at CRRC-Armenia

Reporting to: Country Director

Under the supervision of the Executive Director of CRRC Armenia, the Research Director (RD) contributes to ongoing research, especially in surveys; generates research output in various forms (reports, data briefs, blog, presentations); and leads methodological innovation and training. Some contribution to research project management and operations is part of the profile.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works with CRRC Armenia team to develop and enhance ongoing research, providing insight and scholarly innovation, especially in survey research.
  • Helps to generate research output, calibrated to the highest standards, in a range of different formats, to reach a broad audience for CRRC’s work.
  • Leads and contributes to capacity building in research methodology, based on CRRC’s innovative methods.
  • Contributes to additional public outreach internationally and locally, and contributes to regular production and updates of CRRC outreach and PR materials, including e-bulletin, website and blogs.
  • Contributes to research project management as appropriate, to ensure maximum impact of CRRC research project.
  • Occasionally represents CRRC Armenia and its research at scholarly seminars, conferences, and other events as needed.
  • Coordinates CRRC’s main research tool, the Caucasus Barometer, across the three countries
  • Undertakes other duties as needed to further CRRC’s overall goals.

Expected Qualifications

Education:
Educational attainment must be to the level of PhD, preferably in social sciences with extensive independent research experience. In exceptional cases, a candidate with a Master’s degree may be considered if he/she has conducted extensive independent research on a level equivalent to PhD.
Experience and skills:

  • Five to ten years of progressively responsible and demonstrated results in research in an international context, with an application of quantitative research.
  • Outstanding organizational, written and oral communication skills are required. Strong evidence of being a successful team-player is a must.
  • Native or near-native English skills and strong skills in written expression are extremely important.
  • Strong computer skills and outreach/communications are necessary.
