Job Vacancy: Inaugural Director of the YSU Center for Gender and Leadership Studies

Yerevan State University seeks to appoint an inaugural Director for the Center for Gender and Leadership Studies (CGLS), which is being established through a partnership with Arizona State University (ASU) funded by a grant from Higher Education for Development, USA (HED).

The Director will lead the CGLS in promoting public knowledge and awareness of gender equality and women’s leadership and empowerment issues; developing YSU capacity to delivery coursework related to gender and leadership and women’s empowerment; coordinating and strengthening YSU research on gender and women’s issues and fostering research-based public policy; building partnerships with non-governmental organizations through a mini-grant program supporting research, advocacy, and outreach in gender equality and women’s leadership; and organizing workshops, seminars, job fairs promoting women’s professional advancement. The Director will also be responsible for regular reporting on the CGLS activities to ASU and HED.

Applicants must be YSU faculty members with a PhD, Candidate of Science, or Doctor of Science degree in any field. Administrative leadership experience and a record of research and outreach activities related to gender and women’s issues are expected. Functional command of the English language is required.

The appointment will start no later than May 1, 2013 and is annually renewable. Salary is commensurate with qualifications. This is a full-time position, and the Director’s workload at YSU will be adjusted accordingly.
