George Eastman Visiting Professor 2019-20

MEDICAL SCIENCES DIVISION or HUMANITIES DIVISION

The University invites expressions of interest in the George Eastman Visiting Professorship in the academic year 2019-20 from citizens of the United States, in a branch of university study within the Medical Sciences Division or the Humanities Division. Like previous holders of this distinguished chair, the new Visiting Professor will be eminent in teaching and/or research.

The Visiting Professor is normally resident in Oxford for one academic year and is required to deliver a minimum of one public lecture and an academic programme agreed in advance with the accepting department or faculty of the University. In parallel with holding the chair, the Professor will be elected to a Professorial Fellowship at Balliol College. Suitable housing is provided rent-free. A professorial stipend is payable for the year, and the University meets the reasonable cost of the Professor’s return air fare from the United States.

Candidates will be asked to seek nomination by another individual through one of the constituent units of the relevant Oxford division, and to supply a CV/list of publications and the names of three referees. The closing date for nominations is Monday 9 October 2017.

Any enquiries should be addressed by email to Anna Malkin, Senior Appointments Personnel Officer at professorships@admin.ox.ac.uk.

Applications are particularly welcome from women and minority ethnic candidates, who are under-represented in academic posts in Oxford.
