Co-ordinating, in conjunction with colleagues, the undergraduate degree courses in Turkish, and contributing to the development of new teaching programmes, the Associate Professor will supervise students and their dissertations, and serve as examiner for undergraduates and graduates when requested to do so. The postholder will also contribute to the administration and wider work and life of both college and faculty. This will include acting as College Adviser to Exeter College graduate students in Oriental Studies and related subjects, and participating in the governance of the College.

With a doctorate in the field of Ottoman history, complete by the time of the appointment, the successful applicant will have an outstanding record of internationally excellent publication and research in Ottoman history of the period.
