Researcher in Networks and Distributed Systems
A temporary position as researcher (SKO 1109) is available at the Department of Informatics. The position is externally funded as part of the research project OCARINA. The employment period is the same as the project period, i.e. from 01.10.2016 to 30.09.2021 (5 years). OCARINA builds on RINA, the Recursive InterNetwork Architecture. RINA is a novel "back to basics" approach to networking that is fundamentally different from today's networks. RINA was first presented by John Day in his book "Patterns in Network Architecture: A return to Fundamentals". In the project OCARINA, new congestion control and routing/forwarding mechanisms for RINA will be developed.
Qualifications
The appointment requires a PhD or other corresponding education equivalent to a Norwegian doctoral degree in Computer Science (Informatics).
The researcher must have expertise, including a proven publication track-record, in the following areas: congestion control, routing, recursive networks (especially RINA), programming, and analytical evaluation.
In the assessment of the applications, emphasis will be put on:
- The applicants' academic and personal qualifications for performing research in the projectGood ability to collaborate and to form part of an international community.
- A good command of English is required.

Salary
Pay Grade 65 – 74 (NOK 560 700 - 664 000 per year) depending on qualifications and seniority.
