The Kuala Lumpur International Photoawards 2016

KLPA is open to photographers from all over the world, including professionals, amateurs, keen hobbyists and students. All contestants must be at least 16 years at 30 April 2016.

Categories

A: SINGLE IMAGE - 'STILLNESS & DISTANCE' THEME

Guidelines

  • Must be portraits of people
  • Must be photographed in the 'Deadpan' style according to your own interpretation(What is the Deadpan style?)

  • Title and Caption are important to allow the judges to understand your portrait in greater depth 

  • Can be Black & White or Colour

  • Minimal post-production allowed e.g. crop, colour levels, saturation, sharpness, dodge and burn

  • No montages or splicing, no HDR, no art filters, no special effects, no excessive vignetting, etc

  • No borders, frame lines or watermarks

  • Each portrait will be judged independently even if it is part of a series

  • Judges decision will be final

B: SINGLE IMAGE - OPEN

 Guidelines

  • Must be portraits of people
  • As this is an Open category, your portrait can convey any emotion, mood, or style that you wish, and will be judged independently of any preconceived theme.

  • Can be Black & White or Colour

  • Minimal post-production allowed e.g. crop, colour levels, saturation, sharpness, dodge and burn

  • No montages or splicing, no HDR, no art filters, no special effects, no excessive vignetting, etc

  • No borders, frame lines or watermarks

  • Each portrait will be judged independently even if it is part of a series

  • Judges decision will be final

Entry Fees

A: 'Early bird' discount  from 1 to 29 February, 2016

USD$10 per image, for 1 to 5 images / (RM42 per image)

USD$75 for 6 to 10 images  /  (RM315 per set of images)

B: Standard fees apply 1 to 31 March, 2016

USD$15 per image,  for 1 to 5 images    /  (RM63 per image)    

USD$115 for 6 to 10 images   /   (RM475 per set of images)

Awards

Prize winners from each category will be invited to attend the Awards event in Malaysia on Saturday, 6 August, 2016.  A travel grant will be presented to all attending prize winners only, at $500 (non-SE Asian) and $250 (SE Asian) per winner. Trophies cannot be exchanged for monetary prizes.

Timeline

a. Call for Entries : 1 February 2016.

b. Submission of images will only be open from 1 February - 30 March 2016 from the ENTER page. All entries must be received by 2400 hrs GMT on 31 March 2016.

c. Judging will take place at the end of April 2016. Photographers whose entries are shortlisted by the judges will be notified by email or by post within 10 days.

d. A shortlisted finalists gallery will be available to view on this website from the 1st week in June 2016.

e. Prize Winners and Finalists exhibition prints - the organisers will prepare, print and mount all photograph for a public exhibition. Only shortlisted finalists and winners will be contacted by email.

Notified finalists will be required to submit high-resolution image files by ftp / email by the end of June 2016. Image files not received by this date will be disqualified. High-resolution files should be at least 4,800 pixels at its shortest dimension, (approx. 50 cm x 40 cm size), and must be of exhibition quality. (Contact the organiser if in doubt). Files may be interpolated upwards in a photo editing software to the required dimensions, but image quality must be maintained.

f. The Prize Winners will be announced at an Awards Presentation ceremony and exhibition. This will take place in from 6 - 17 August 2016 at Whitebox gallery, PUBLIKA, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

g. The sponsors, the exhibition venues or the organisers shall not be liable for any loss or damage, whether or not caused by their negligence.
