Welcome to the Summer School entitled Social Investments and Social Economy –Theory, Practice and European Policies” which will take place in Rhodes, Dodecanese-Greece during 07-13/9/2015!

The Summer School aims at providing a broad approach from a European perspective to the investments in the social economy sector and their crucial role in overcoming the current economic crisis. Social enterprises are considered to be great examples of what the concept of highly competitive social market economy means at the micro-level. Innovative tendencies in the context of the social economy will be presented as well asbest Practices from all over Europe. The participants will have the opportunity to participate in interactive workshops with the trainers about the operational and managerial practices of social economy organizations.

Distinguished academics, lecturers, experts from the European Commission and senior public sector executives offer a broad and interdisciplinary cover of this emerging field.

Basic Thematic Topics:
-Social Economy
-Procedures for establishing Social Enterprises (How to setup a social enterprise!)
-Innovative trends in Social Economy
-Community Capacity Building for Social Entrepreneurship -Social investments and financial tools -Best practices and operational issues of social economy enterprises

The participants will become familiar with the ways in which the public policies and private strategies for social investments are designed, for funding from the European Commission, the new NSRF, European, national and international agencies as well as development, investment and social banks like European Social Entrepreneurship Funds (EUSEFs) e.t.c At the same time, participants  will acquire leadership and management knowledge in the emerging social economy sector, enjoying preferential funding regime inthe new programming period 2014-2020, offering many business opportunities for all, including persons belonging to vulnerable social groups.

This Summerschool is unique at European level and comes in a short time after the recent announcement of creation of the European Fund for Strategic Investment by the European Commission President JC Juncker, who places great emphasis on financing social innovation actions from a combination of Community and European funds.

Aim And Scope

The aim of this course is to provide scientific knowledge and strengthen administrative capacity of participants in an interdisciplinary field of interest with an emphasis on social investments in the social economy sector. The EU and in particular countries in deep recession and strict fiscal adjustment programs seeking ways of public and private investments with a visible and measurable positive effect on employment and social cohesion.

The social economy sector is the rising third sector between the public and the business and its contribution in the quality of employment and family income is well documented - especially when it comes to persons belonging to vulnerable social groups.

Distinguished academics, lecturers, experts from the European Commission and senior public sector executives offer a broad and interdisciplinary cover of this emerging field.

Target Group

This course is intended for educators that want to familiarise or get involved with Social Economy enterprises and investments.Social entrepreneurs, local business actors, educated youngsters who wish to gain knowledge on organising a Social Εnterprise. Also, PhD, MSc and undergraduate students (of every field) are also welcome to attend this course.

Registration

Participation cost is:

-100€ for early registration (if applications until July 31)

-150€ for late registration (if applications from 1st August)
