Summer School on Vaccinology
The Centre for the Evaluation of Vaccination (CEV) of the University of Antwerp and EMSA Antwerp (European Medical Students Association of Antwerp) organize an unforgettable Summer school to boost your knowledge and skills on vaccinations, immunology and vaccine safety issues on 3-10 July 2017.
Who can attend the summer school?
The course aims to offer an additional course to the current curricula of (para) medical students regarding all aspects of vaccinology. Priority for participation is offered to students of the WHO-European region.
Scholarships are available for undergraduate students from the WHO-European region. The fee includes breakfast, lunch and dinner on course days, accommodation during 9 nights and days, local transport, course materials and part of the social & cultural programme. ESPID members benefit a reduction of the participation fee.
Participants will be admitted according to the date of registration and ensuring a balance in terms of regions and gender. Acceptance and payment methods will be notified by the summer school secretariat and registration will be confirmed after we received your payment of the program fee. In case you need an invitation letter for your visa, please inform us.
Social programme organised by EMSA
A summer course is not complete without a social programme! We, a group of students from the Antwerp European Medical Students Association (EMSA-Antwerpen), will take care of that.
During the weekdays and weekend, we will arrange a wide variety of dinners and activities to give you more than a glimpse of Antwerp and the rest of Belgium. Visits to museums, exhibitions or historical places can be arranged and we will be very happy to answer all your practical questions about these kind of things.
The social and cultural programme is optional and free!
Application procedure in 4 steps
- Register in Mobility Online
- Fill in personal details and complete requested extra questions
- Wait for approval of your application
- Pay the participation fee and upload requested additional documents within 10 days after approval to secure your spot
Applications can be submitted by filling in the online registration form via Mobility Online. After having registered, you will automatically receive an email with further guidelines to complete your application.
Upon successful submission you will receive an automatic reply to confirm your application. In case your application is accepted, you will receive an email with more practical information on payment and visa. Note that your subscription is only valid when the participation fee is received by the summer school’s secretariat.
Accepted students will be registered as regular students of the University of Antwerp and will hence receive a student account and a student card allowing them to have access to the catering facilities and the Wi-Fi network of the University of Antwerp. Furthermore, accepted students will be automatically insured under the policy of the University of Antwerp.

Cancellation by the participant If the participant cancels more than 4 weeks before the start of the summer school, 50 % of the registration fee can be reimbursed to the participant. If the participant cancels within 4 weeks before the start of the summer school, nothing will be refunded. All refunds are made in Euros. The organization cannot refund any shortfalls due to exchange rate fluctuations or bank charges. For bursary students, we charge a deposit of 150€ that will be reimbursed upon arrival. If participant cancels more than 4 weeks before the start of the summer school, 50% of the deposit will be reimbursed. If cancellation occurs within 4 weeks of the start of the summer school, nothing will be refunded. |
Scholarships for incoming students
Scholarships are available for bachelor and master students from WHO-Euro countries. To apply for a scholarship, you have to complete the specific bursary request in the registration form. Scholarships are awarded to a limited number of students according to gender, age and nationality.
Scholarships for students UAntwerp
Two types of scholarships are available for students who are currently enrolled as regular students of the University of Antwerp.
- Financial allowance of € 150/student for attending a summer school organised at Antwerp Summer University. Students should prefinance the full tuition fee and can claim a reimbursement of the allowance after submitting a certificate of attendance to the Antwerp Summer University Office.
- Scholarship for a short international experience for students who qualify for financial aid by the Department of Social, Cultural and Studentaffairs (SCS).
