Fully Funded Short Term Scholarships for Visiting Research Fellows, Germany

Publish Date: Oct 07, 2015

Deadline: Apr 01, 2016

The Centre for Baltic and Scandinavian Archaeology (ZBSA) within the Stiftung Schleswig-Holsteinische Landesmuseen Schloss Gottorf invites applications from external research fellows for short term research stays at the ZBSA in 2016. The stipends will cover costs for travel and accommodation in Schleswig as well as a small per diem allowance for a period of 1-3 months.

Eligible candidates must be qualified researchers holding an outstanding Masters or a PhD degree in a scientific field relevant for the ZBSA research curriculum. They must be working on projects that can be well integrated into the ZBSA research programme. Thus, project proposals will be evaluated with reference to the research focus of the ZBSA. Moreover, applications should be concise with respect to the purpose and schedule of the stay.

ZBSA is a non-university research institution committed to international scientific standards. Our research programme is described in detail at our website (www.zbsa.eu). The scientific staff of ZBSA numbers more than 25 researchers – including senior as well as junior researchers, postdoctoral research fellows and doctoral students.

The successful candidates will find a dynamic interdisciplinary research environment at the archaeological interface between Arts & Humanities and Natural Science. They will enjoy intensive scientific cooperation and full integration into the research activities of the ZBSA. The successful candidates will be expected to:

• conduct research based on studies of archaeological remains retrieved within the geographical working area of ZBSA, i.e. primarily the Baltic and Scandinavian region;

• participate in and contribute positively to the activities of the ZBSA, i.e. present their research in our internal research colloquia and submit a paper for our annual report.

The application may be written in English or German. It should include an outline of the proposed research project (max 5 pages including bibliography), a time schedule for the completion of your project, and curriculum vitae (including a list of publications).

Deadline for applications:

October 1st 2015 for research stays due from January to June 2016

April 1st 2016 for research stays due from July to December 2016
