Rules of VI International Photo Contest Helie Memorial

Helie Salas family along with the Photographic Association of Villena announce the VI International Photography Contest ‘Helie Memorial’ recognised by the Photography International Federation (FIAP), Spanish Confederation of Photography (CEF) and the Levantine Federation of Photography (FLF).

The theme of the contest is ‘Woman and Agriculture’.

Photography Presentation

Each participating could send up to 4 photographs, they must be unpublished in this venue, only copy (not mass-produced) and they haven't been awarded in other contests.
The technique used and the photograph size will be free. The works will be compulsory assembled in a passepartout 40x50 cm sized, preferably in black or white colour. Presentations in thin cardboard or foam core board will not be allowed. Also the photographs will be submitted in a CD, JPEG digital format, in its reproduction size, in 300ppp and named with the same title than in the paper photograph.


People in any nationality or residence can participate.
Entry-fee: Free
To facilitate and reduce the price of the deliveries of the photographs from any place of the world, the organization advises to use Yolomando services due to the agreement reached with this company guarantees the right participation in the contest without delivery expenses.
Also we will accept deliveries received before the end of the term in Villena Culture House, Santiago Square, 7- 03400 Villena (Spain), with “HELIE MEMORIAL” written in the package. The organization will not assume possible delivery expenses, custom duties or importation rights.
An Admission Jury, named by the organization will be able to move away photographies that don't meet the competition rules.


The jury will be composed of: Juan Manuel Castro Prieto (2015 National Prize in Spain), Cristina Otero Pascual, Santos Moreno Villar (title EFIAP)
Substitute: Manuel López Puerma (title EFIAP)


First Prize 2000 € and golden medal from FIAP.
Second Prize 1000 € and silver medal from FIAP.
Third Prize 500 € and bronze medal from FIAP.

Best Foreign Participant: 500 €.
Best Local Participant: 500 €.

Six FIAP Honourable Mentions
A CEF golden Medal to the best national participant.
A FLF silver Medal to the best Valencian Community participant.

Every participant will aim for the three first prizes.
Every participant can count towards this contest to the obtaining of the Official Honours FIAP, CEF, FLF.
Every participant born or resident in Villena will aim for the special prize “Best Local Participant”
Each author will no able to receive more than one prize. If, once the verdict was solved, we check that several works from the same author has been selected, the prizes will be substituted by other authors photographs that remain next in the selection.

Award Ceremony, Public Showing and Conference

A public showing will be made with the awarded and selected works in the exhibition room in the Culture House of Villena.
The exhibition opening will be presided over Joan Foncuberta, making a lecture that will start at 19 h.
At 21.00 h the exhibition will be open and the awards ceremony will be carried out.
They photographs that have as return address a Spanish address will be return free of costs, except from Villena and region's participants.
Every author works with return address from other countries will remain available in order to their authors request via email the returning without causing expenses to the contest organization. All the photographs that haven't been requested to return before 30th July of 2017 will become part of the photographic base of the organization of the contest.


The participation in the contest implies the acceptance of this rules.
Any not considered aspect in the rules could be solved by the organization and jury members.
The photographs will be treated carefully, but we decline any responsibility about thefts, loss or damaged caused.
The participants will take responsibility for authorship and property of the works presented.
The organization will not take responsibility for complaints about image right on the physical or legal entity photographed, so the author of the work will have to respond to this.
Awarded authors will give in indefinite and exclusive way to Helie Memorial organization (sponsor entity of the contest), the necessary property rights to the reproduction, transformation and exploitation of the awarded works, in order to reproduce them in big format and to give them up for charitable sale in favour of National Association for the fight against Cancer.
Awarded authors will maintain the authorship rights of their work, that Intellectual Property Law reserves, so they will be quoted in any future use of the work.
Every participant, by the fact of participating in the contest, authorizes the organization to publish the images in any promotional media of the contest, always quoting the author's name.

“With the sole act of submitting his/her images or files to a salon under FIAP Patronage, the entrant accepts without exception and with no objection that the submitted images can be investigated by FIAP to establish if these obey to FIAP regulations and definitions even if the entrant is not a member of FIAP; that FIAP will use any means at its disposal for this undertaking; that any refusal to cooperate with FIAP or any refusal to submit the original files as captured by the camera, or failure to provide sufficient evidence, will be sanctioned by FIAP and that in case of sanctions following the non compliance with FIAP regulations, the name of the entrant will be released in any form useful to inform the breaches of the rules. It is recommended to leave the EXIF data in the submitted files intact in order to ease eventual investigations”.
