Description of the subject area
The topic for the PhD position is communication infrastructures for smart and digitized products. Internet-of-Things and future products will consist of a physical part, a wired/wireless connectivity part complemented with product intelligence parts in the Cloud. The physical part could include mechanical components, sensors and actuators, as well as an on-board computer. The infrastructure part must provide secure, reliable and energy efficient communication between these parts. The PhD student will do research into authentication and access control for digitized products and how the communication system should maintain data consistency between parts. The research is part of a larger project on “Future factories in the Cloud. The PhD student will be hosted by the Communication Research Group.
