Pathways to Property Summer School 2016

The Pathways to Property Summer School 2016 will take place from Monday 25th July - Thursday 28th July 2016 at the University of Reading.

Applications are now OPEN. The deadline for applications is Tuesday 31st May 2016. Please click here for information on how to apply. 
Applications received by the deadline will receive priority.  We will still accept applications after the deadline and these applications will be considered if there are any places remaining.

The Pathways to Property Summer School is run on an annual basis, and is open to Year 12 students in state schools and colleges.

Summer School Programme

The Summer School is free to attend. All costs will be covered by the project including accommodation, food, activity costs and travel. The Summer School offers a wide range of activities and benefits such as:

  • Taking part in lectures, seminars, talks and site visits led by staff and students from the School of Real Estate & Planning at the University of Reading.
  • Exploring current themes in property such as sustainability, housing issues and regenerating cities and find out how real estate and planning courses build on the knowledge you acquire through A Level (or equivalent) study.
  • Developing an understanding of the career opportunities in property by attending activities led by recent graduates and industry professionals.
  • Learning more about student life and study in higher education by taking part in campus tours and evening activities.

Applying for the Summer School

Applications for the summer school are open, with final applications to be submitted by 31st May 2016.

Before appplying for the Summer School please bear in mind that selection is based on the following criteria:

  • Students who have achieved A and B grades at GCSE and are on track to achieve similar grades at A Level (or equivalent)
  • Students from state schools from neighbourhoods with low overall progression rates to higher education or high levels of socio-economic deprivation
  • Students with no immediate family working in the real estate industry

After the Summer School

Participants have the opportunity to apply for a work experience placement after the Summer School to build their experience for UCAS applications. They also have the opportunity to be paired with a student mentor who will support them after the Summer School.

Pathways to Property students who successfully apply and enrol onto Real Estate & Planning programmes at the University of Reading will receive a £1000 welcome bursary with the opportunity to apply for further financial support from Reading Real Estate Foundation bursaries and scholarships programme. For further details about financial support please click here.
