ON PAPER CONTEST

Artists can submit one piece of work on a paper size of 300mm x 400mm. In 2015, 14 artists were shortlisted and exhibited their work in Barcelona. The award winner was the Australian artist Cleo Wilkinson.

ON PAPER presents its 2nd printmaking contest to promote the art of printmaking, as well as the connection between printmakers around the world.

The contest is open to anyone.

Each artist can submit one piece of work on a paper size of 300mm x 400mm. The print size can be any within the size of the paper. The work must have been made using any traditional printmaking techniques, including screenprinting, lithography, etching, collagraph, monotipe, electro-etching, laser print, photopolymer… However, digital prints are not accepted.

The work must be relatively new, completed in the last couple of years, not before, and not have received a prize before.

The shortlisted artists will have their work shown in the foyer-space of 103 Trongate (Glasgow, UK), in association with The Glasgow Print Studio, in August 2016.

An international jury will vote to select the shortlisted artists; the winner will be the artist with the most votes. There will be one award of 1000€ for the winning artist.

Submission to the contest has a fee of 25€, payable via paypal. All artists who submit work to the contest will be shown on our website, onpapercontest.com, in the ‘PARTICIPANTS’ section for a minimun of one year. Moreover, the shortlisted artists will be shown on onpapercontest.com in the ‘SHORTLISTED 2016’ section and will also be shared on ON PAPER’s social media.

As an agreement with the UB (Universitat de Barcelona), students from the ‘Facultat de Belles Arts de Barcelona’ are welcome to participate at no cost. More information at info@onpapercontest.com

Deadline for submission is April 1st 2016. The application process is online on onpapercontest.com. The documents required are:

 Resume or CV (Word DOC max. 1MB)

Image of the work (JPG max. 1MB)

Information about the print: technique, price or value and contact information.

The artists shortlisted for the prize and the exhibition will be notified by email before May 1st 2016. The winner will be announced during the opening of the show at the beginning of August 2016, in Glasgow. The shortlisted artists must ship the selected work unframed and unmounted to the address supplied to them in their notification email.

After the exhibition, the artists will be able to arrange shipment or to pick up their own work. The work that hasn’t been picked up before the next award will become property of ON PAPER contest.
