About the contest
GATEWAY ART CENTER NYC and our Sponsors promote the appreciation of photography, showcase emerging talent, and introduce photographers from around the world to New York City. A selection of winning work from this competition will be exhibited Manhattan Midtown in one of our Galleries. Artwork selected for award judging, and the results of the competition, will be viewed online and promoted with social media. The winners will be published on GATEWAY ART CENTER NYC website and media including the e-zine 44degrees.net in a special section.
Jury and Judging
Jurors include experienced educators, curators, gallery owners, and consultants. Judges’ identities will be available after the judging, and all submissions will be judged without identifying the photographer by name.
Maximum 90 artists may apply in each category in each division, first come first served.
First round of judging selects 40 initial entries for selection of awards in the second round.
Results of the first round of judging will be announced two weeks after the deadline and all applicants will be notified by email.
Final selections of winning entries will be announced three weeks after the deadline and all applicants will be notified by email.
Categories
2 Divisions: Professional and Non-Professional/Students may submit images in any or all of the following 5 categories: Architecture, Fine Art, Portrait, Nature, Macro.

Professional division
Professionals compete for recognition, certificates and exhibit opportunities:
Best Professional Award
Chosen from among the 1st prize winners in each of the Categories and awarded a Solo Exhibit of up to 20 photographs in one of the Manhattan Galleries for 5 days. A wine reception and publicity is included; the Artist does not need to attend.
- Gold, Silver, Bronze, 4th, and 5th place awards in each category *
- Honorable Mentions in discretion of the Judges **
- Most Professional Popular Award *
The artist receiving the highest number of online votes in all Categories will receive recognition as the Most Popular.
A Group Exhibit for 5 days will be held in one of the Manhattan Galleries.
A wine reception and publicity is included; the Artists do not need to be present.
* Winners in each Category are invited.
** Selected by the Judges in their discretion.
NON-PROFESSIONAL/STUDENTS DIVISION
Non-Professionals/Students compete in their Non-Pro Division for the same Awards and recognition as Professionals.
Best Non-Professional Award
Chosen from among the 1st prize winners in each of the Categories and awarded a Solo Exhibit of up to 20 photographs in one of the Manhattan Galleries for 5 days. A wine reception and publicity is included; the Artist does not need to attend.

- Honorable Mentions in discretion of the Judges **
- Most Non-Professional Popular Award *
The artist receiving the highest number of online votes in all Categories will receive recognition as the Most Popular.
A Group Exhibit for 5 days will be held in one of the Manhattan Galleries. Maximum framed size to exhibit it 24×30 inches (either orientation).
A wine reception and publicity is included; the Artists do not need to be present.

** Selected by the Judges in their discretion.
Entry fees
Entry fees cover the cost of judging, administration, exhibiting and promotion.
Eligibility
The contest is open for anyone age 18 and over. Entries are welcome from any country. There are no restrictions on the type of camera you use, or the techniques you use to produce your final image.
