Kelly Law Team Down Syndrome Scholarships
The Kelly Law Team takes pleasure in announcing two annual $1,000 scholarships for individuals with Down syndrome. The scholarships are to pursue secondary or post-secondary educational opportunities.
Down syndrome, a genetic condition, changes the course of development in individuals. In addition to some of the physical characteristics associated with the condition, many persons with Down syndrome have difficulty with language and speaking. The KLT scholarship program provides financial support to encourage people with Down syndrome to pursue educational opportunities that might otherwise be unavailable to them.
Two scholarships, $1,000 each, are being offered annually.* They will consist of tuition payment for attendance at a college, trade school, community college, or secondary school. You do not have to be a student at the time you apply in order to qualify for the award. The scholarship money must be used within a year after the award date, and an invoice for tuition must be furnished to the Kelly Law Team within that time period. Upon receipt of the invoice, the Kelly Law Team will issue its check for $1,000 to the educational institution.
The scholarships are open to United States citizens with Down syndrome.
The deadline for submission of all required information is November 7, 2016.
- A statement of not more than 100 words indicating what the scholarship will do for you.
- (Optional) An essay (650 to 1,000 words) discussing how Down syndrome has affected you in terms of your education. The essay must be original.
- We may ask for documentation that you have Down syndrome.
You must fill out the application, upload the statement and the (optional) essay, and indicate your agreement to the terms of the program.
The winners shall be chosen at the sole discretion of John Kelly. The more compelling an application is, and the more online support it generates, the better the chance of being chosen as a winner.
Winners will be chosen on or before December 7, 2016, and email notification will be provided.
