Biomolecular Sciences and Biotechnology
The Institute for Advanced Study and the University of Pavia organize a PhD program that is open to students of any nationality. The program will include lectures on topics that are relevant for the developed research projects.
The PhD program prepares highly skilled and brilliant researchers, open to work with an interdisciplinary approach to scientific problems.
Strong research programs are available in the areas of Protein, Science, Cellular Biochemistry, Bioinorganic Chemistry, Molecular Microbiology and Molecular Neuropathology.
For the academic year 2017-2018, 9 positions of which:
- 6 with scholarship;
- 1 dedicated to the Oxytrain EU-2020 project;
- 2 dedicated to Philochem employees.
The five fellowships are available to be used in one of the following laboratories:
Structural biology: Prof. Andrea Mattevi, Prof. F. Forneris, Dept. of Biology and Biotechnology
Bioinorganic chemistry: Prof. L. Casella, Dept. of Chemistry
Enzymology and biogenesis of drugs: Prof. D. Ubiali, Dept. of Pharmaceutical Sciences
Pharmaceutical analytical chemistry: Prof. B. Conti, Dept. of Pharmaceutical Sciences
Molecular pathology of extracellular matrices: Prof. A. Rossi, Dept. of Molecula Medicine
Neuropharmacology: Prof. M. Racchi, Prof. S. Govoni, Dept.of Pharmaceutical Sciences
Platelet biochemistry: Prof. M. Torti, Dept. of Biology and Biotechnology
Microbial pathogens: Prof. G. Riccardi, Dept. of Biology and Biotechnology
Applications must be submitted to the IUSS following the guide lines published on the "Competition Notice a.y. 2017-2018" published in March 2017. The selection consists of an oral examination that can be either in english or in italian. The admission exams will be held on 7th of September 2017, at IUSS, Palazzo del Broletto, Piazza della Vittoria 15 - Pavia.
