Postdoctoral Fellow in Vertebrate Skeletal Biology and Evolution
We are seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to join the Stephanie E. Pierce Laboratory based in the Museum of Comparative Zoology, Harvard University. The Fellow will help deign and execute research on tetrapod bone microstructural evolution. The research will specifically focus on comparing bone histology across a broad range of fossil tetrapod species to gain better insight into physiology, growth, and behavior. Work many also include histology of modern tetrapod taxa, as well as bone mechanical experimentation. The Fellow should have strong technical expertise in paleohistology, extensive knowledge of vertebrate bone biology, and a good understanding of deep-time vertebrate evolution.
Basic Qualifications
A successful applicant would have:
• Ph.D. in paleontology, skeletal/bone biology, vertebrate anatomy, evolutionary biomechanics or related fields
• A solid track record of scientific publications and international conference presentations
• Must have demonstrable paleohistological expertise
• One or more of the following skills would also be beneficial: CT scanning, 3D anatomical modeling, geometric morphometrics, finite element analysis, bone material properties analysis, tissue staining, comparative phylogenetics
