Governance and Economic Development Business Development Internships

The Governance and Economic Development (GED) Division internships at RTI provides outstanding students the opportunity to work side-by-side with senior international governance experts to develop new tools and approaches to some of the most challenging issues in developing countries. Interns will gain exposure to all aspects of the business development process in governance and are encouraged to propose ideas for independent research or business development projects.

There is one available in Washington, DC or Research Triangle Park, NC for the GED Business Development Internship. The Intern will concentrate on market/business research, business capture, proposal development, strategic positioning activities, and competitor tracking and analysis.

Students must be enrolled in an accredited academic institution. This is an unpaid internship and requires the student to receive course credit or fulfill program requirements. Outside funding such as fellowships and internship awards may be accepted to fulfill the unpaid internship requirement. International students are encouraged to apply. Qualifications

 

The GED Internship Program is open to graduate-level and undergraduate-level students (having completed their junior year course work) pursuing degrees in the fields of:

  • Public policy
  • Political economy
  • International development
  • Economics
  • Public administration
  • Urban planning
  • Journalism
  • Communications
  • Marketing
  • Business
  • Other related fields…

Qualifications

  • Significant research and reporting experience, excellent writing and organizational skills
  • Experience in quantitative and qualitative research methodologies
  • Ability to work independently and willingness to work in a team environment
  • Flexibility and desire to work on varying projects.
  • Experience studying, working, or traveling in developing countries is preferred.
  • Fluency in English is required, and comprehension of an additional language, such as Spanish, French, and/or Arabic, is highly desired.
