The Franz Steiner Prize for German-American Studies Awarded by the Franz Steiner Verlag and the German Historical Institute
This prize is awarded every second year to the author of an outstanding scholarly manuscript in the fields of transatlantic history or North American history (early modern era to the present). The winning manuscript will be published in the series Transatlantische Historische Studien, and the author will receive an award of € 3,500. The Franz Steiner Prize will next be awarded in 2017.
The Franz Steiner Prize Committee will consider unpublished manuscripts written in either German or English. Recently completed doctoral dissertations and Habilitationsschriften are eligible for submission: theses submitted for a bachelor’s or master’s degree are not eligible, nor areDiplomarbeiten. The committee will not consider manuscripts that have already been accepted for publication.
Guidelines for the Authors
Authors who wish to be considered for the Franz Steiner Prize should send a copy of their manuscript, a one-page abstract, an evaluation of the manuscript by a senior scholar (wissenschaftliches Gutachten), and CV to
